My Attempt and Our Thoughts of Commercial Diets with Genuine Results
Due to obesity being a medical condition rather than a person’s gluttony, we thought it would be a great idea to try commercial diets. These diets have been around for several years and are proven sub-stainable for up to 6 weeks. They are designed for short term, high satisfying weight loss rather than a long-term solution where the diet would have to become a part of a person’s daily routine.
This is generally not practical due to the following reasons:
Price
- All commercial diets are very expensive and are designed to make millions of pounds for the investors rather than supporting the individual. An average person using a commercial diet would find it difficult to spend around £400 per month for the rest of their life that simply allows them to follow a typical diet plan.
Goals
– an average person will use these types of diets to fulfil their short-term goal. Once the person achieves their goal, the selected diet is discontinued. The average person will quickly return to their starting weight or even gain more body mass compared to when the diet started. People will gain a false sense of security as they will depend on the diet plan that they have selected to lose weight repeatedly for every new goal becomes evident in their life. This means that around 9 months of the year they will be happy to be obese without trying to correct this issue, which can result in overall declining health.
Pressure
– many diet plans include attending groups that place a massive amount of pressure on people who struggle with weight loss. This can easily place people in a diet rut as they give up on the diet. This generally happens when weight loss is an individual struggle while other people in the group seem to effortlessly lose weight every week.
The Challenge
We intend to use one commercial diet that is continued for 7 days. We will monitor body mass by registering the start weight on day one, followed by the end weight on day seven. This measurement of body mass will determine the overall body mass difference during the week. We will conclude with a general review of the week including if the diet was achievable and body mass difference. We will also cover any concerns for people who decide to continue with the selected diet plan for the long term.
