Each slice is a mouthwatering harmony of Flavors, boasting the rich, smoky essence of gammon and the delectable sweetness of honey. This culinary creation is your ticket to a taste experience that's nothing short of perfection.

Ingredients

  • 1 x Gammon Joint (750 grams)
  • 2 x Carrots
  • 2 x Teaspoon of Clear Honey (1 gram)

Other Things You Will Need

  • Baking Tray
  • Kitchen Foil
  • Knife
  • Fork
  • Scissors
  • Teaspoon
  • Chopping Board
  • Food Scales

Before You Start Cooking

  • Defrost the Gammon for 12 hours in the fridge until thawed or use a microwave on defrost setting for 8 minutes
  • Wash hands for 20 seconds using soap and water
  • Place all ingredients and other things you will need on the kitchen worktop
  • Weigh or measure ingredients as required
  • Preheat the Oven using Gas Mark 6 / 200 degrees C / 400 degrees F

Method

  • Wash the carrots and remove the ends
  • Cut carrots in half
  • Put the carrots on the baking tray forming a platform for the gammon to rest
  • Remove the packaging from the gammon leaving the ring around the meat
  • Place the gammon on the carrot platform making sure it is raised from the baking tray
  • Pour a teaspoon of honey over the gammon so it slowly covers the top of the meat
  • Cover the gammon in the baking tray with kitchen foil, make sure the foil seals the baking tray by crunching the edges
  • Put in the oven and cook for 60 minutes
  • When ready carefully remove the kitchen foil from the baking tray as very hot steam will be released
  • Remove the outer ring from the gammon by stabbing the joint with a fork and use scissors (stabbing the gammon is a great way to stabilise the meat while the outer ring is removed)
  • Leave to cool so the gammon can rest for 5 minutes
  • Place on a cutting board and slice
  • Serve

Notes

  • The honey normally weighs zero grams on the kitchen scales but I have classed it as 1 gram when calculating the nutrition for people with a sweet tooth
  • Refer to the brand versus brand gammon food sheet to find the healthiest joint to for your health needs
